Google page rank, why I don’t strive for a higher page rank for my websites.

Google page rank, why I don’t strive for a higher page rank for my websites.

If being listed on Google’s first page is your goal then I would be focusing on other measures to increase your likelihood to make the coveted first page of Google.

How Important is Google Page RankIn short Page Rank is attained by having quality incoming links to your website. The greater the number of incoming links from quality websites to your website, the higher the page rank. Does having a higher page rank mean that you will be listed above lower ranked pages in a Google search? No. For further reference www.smashingmagazine.com.

On October 15, 2009, Google employee Susan Moskwa confirmed that the company had removed PageRank from its Webmaster Tools section. Her post said in part, “We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank )

As you may have realised, getting a high page rank is not my main focus, then what do I focus on? I start by deciding what my main keywords are. The keywords I focus on is what I expect the visitors of my web site to type into Google to find my page.

Once the keywords are decided upon I then apply them to the Title tags of the page, include them in Header tags on the page, add them to the Meta Description tags and Meta Keywords tags between the Head tags of the page.

I also try to include the keywords as part of the content of the page. I have found that the keywords should be incorporated into the content in a natural way, do not add keywords for the sake of adding them. I guess there is a fine line between spam and good content.

I do also add relevant comments to other blogs, regardless of the “follow” status of the link. Visitors will come to your site based on the quality of your comments.

I have several pages on Google’s first page based on the relevant keyword searches, the highest page rank of all my web site is 2. Instead of focusing on the back links take the time to produce a content rich site.

PageRank is definitely not the only factor and it is only updated about twice a year from what I believe. So, not necessarily accurate all the time.

If you’re looking for some up-to-date SEO info, I’ve found that SEOmoz is a great place for reliable SEO info. They have a great free guide at http://guides.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization.

I have a pro account but it really isn’t necessary as they have so much great free content, like the guide I gave the link for above.

I’m cautious when taking SEO advice from just anybody on the net as you don’t know whether to trust it or not or if it’s outdated.

I’m not so sure about that fine line… I think there is a very thick gray line between spam and valuable content… lots of so-so, okay, sorta good, funny but not useful and other kinds of content are out there as well. Page Rank is based on backlinks and you can buy those for $1/1000, even high PR ones for $1/100. Sooner or later though the search engines gonna find out about those link farms and all your backlinks will be worthless.

  3. Listing our website at the top page of Google is a lot of task. Anything matters such as SEO and other traffic trading stuff that we do do have more backlinks and place our page on the first list. Creating our website also matters like how we professionally create it. I do create website using Joomla because for 2 years of using it I was able to build plenty of traffic.
